“My experience allows me to effect change and get results at City Hall. I began as a school board trustee, became the first female Mayor of York, and now serve as your Councillor. I stay resilient and steadfast on your priorities and hold community meetings so your voices are heard and respected.”

— Frances Nunziata

Safety on our streets.

On our streets, in our neighbourhoods and all over York South—Weston this is my number one priority. It is how I look at everything I do on your behalf. Whether it is taking on road congestion, working with Toronto Police, advocating on behalf of youth, speaking out about gun violence, pushing for better parks and community spaces, getting our streets cleaner, getting financial support for flood mitigation or holding community town halls and meetings – I look at safety with the broadest possible lens.

Future for Youth.

I raised my child as a single parent. I know the challenges parents face because I lived them. This year I have been a champion on the Mayor’s Youth Safety Task Force, hosted a youth job fair, held round-tables and used my voice to speak up for free, accessible youth focused recreational space and programs.

I want our youth to find a path forward that includes jobs, meaningful futures and mentorships. I want our youth to have a sense of belonging. I championed some bold moves this year and will continue so that our young people are supported, safe and have a future in York South—Weston

Homes for all.

Stable, affordable housing is key to a vibrant community. I have championed seniors housing, upgrading of affordable housing, worked to get development of purpose-built rental housing approved and brought forward innovative development roundtables to find a way to build more homes.

Local Spaces.

I see access to local services as integral to community well-being and continue to advocate for expanded childcare and early learning options. At City Hall I use my voice to advocate for investments in amenities and community hubs where residents can gather, learn and participate in community life.

Keeping us moving.

Whether it is speaking up for Weston UPX or opening the Mt Dennis GO stop or working with residents to slow down traffic in safety zones or getting changes so side streets are not short cuts or having stop signs and safety zone signage installed or supporting public transit and bike share options – these all work together to keep us moving as we go to work, attend classes, make appointments on time or go shopping
