Dear parents of York South—Weston,
Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—the first public holiday of its kind in Canada. It is a time to reflect on the history of Canada’s relationship with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. I would like to offer my commitment to learn from our past and work toward building a better future.
Tomorrow, I encourage you to learn more about First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples and take steps to understand their history and contributions to our community and across Canada. This is also an opportunity to learn the tragic legacies of residential schools, and about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s report and its 94 Calls to Action.
If you would like to get further involved, please see the following link on how to participate in the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
I wish you all a meaningful day of reflection, learning, and community building.
Sincerely,
Frances
