July 22 eNews
Dear friends and neighbours,
We are now five days into Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopening, and City of Toronto services are continuing to gradually reopen. On Monday, the City reintroduced indoor permits for meetings and events, indoor fitness centres, and weight rooms, among several other amenities. This morning, the City reopened more amenities, including indoor swimming and indoor drop-in programs for sports and leisure. The last of these reopenings will occur on Monday, July 26, and will include indoor aquafit, seniors' centres, and conservatories.
As the City of Toronto continues it reopen, it is possible that we will observe an increase in COVID-19 cases. In order to best protect yourself from the virus, it is highly recommended that you get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. Recent data from Public Health Ontario shows strong evidence for the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines. Between December 14 and June 26, more than 95% of COVID-19 cases occurred in unvaccinated individuals, and 4% of cases occurred in individuals with one dose of the vaccine. By contrast, only 0.4% of COVID-19 cases have been observed in Ontarians with two vaccine doses.
If you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccine, you can do so at the following local vaccine clinics. If you are a resident of the Falstaff, Rustic, and Maple Leaf communities, you can also attend a pop-up vaccine clinic on July 25.
Stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Frances
