Dear friends and neighbours,

As Thanksgiving weekend approaches, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 31 – Mount Dennis invites you to give thanks at their Harvest Dance on Saturday, October 7th. Join your community for a day filled with gratitude, live music by Ramblin' Soul, and delightful dancing accompanied by a cash bar. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with old friends and support our veterans. All proceeds will go to the Legions initiatives.

I also want to remind everyone of World Mental Health Day coming up on Tuesday October 10th. I want to emphasize the significance of this day. Mental health is a core element of our overall well-being, touching the lives of every individual and family in our community. This day offers us a reminder of the importance of mental health, and it calls upon us to create awareness, understanding, and support for those facing mental health challenges. It provides an opportunity to dissolve the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourages open conversations.

By recognizing World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a more inclusive and caring community where everyone feels empowered to seek help when needed. Together, let's stand in unity to prioritize mental health and ensure that no one suffers in silence.

Lastly, as we gather with our loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support and engagement in our community have been a source of inspiration and motivation. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who have contributed to fundraising efforts aimed at providing food for families in need. In a time when the rising cost of living has impacted many families throughout our city, various organizations and dedicated students have taken the time to fundraise food right across York South - Weston. Every contribution from within our community has ensured that families will have the opportunity to enjoy a wholesome meal on Thanksgiving.

This long weekend is a time to reflect on the blessings that enrich our lives. Your resilience, compassion, and commitment to our shared goals make our community stronger every day. May this Thanksgiving be filled with warmth, joy, and moments of togetherness. I am honored to serve you, and I look forward to continuing to work together to make our community an even better place.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

Sincerely,
Frances
