Dear friends and neighbours,

This week I received an update regarding the situation of Toronto Artscape. As of September 22nd, 2023, the City is working with Artscape to maintain service continuity for tenants. This includes ensuring that staffing is in place to manage building services and minimize any disruption to tenants. The City will also work with any future court-appointed receiver to protect the interests of tenants. With the City working with Artscape and its lenders, a temporary stay of receivership through at least September 29 was achieved, with Artscape entering into forbearance agreements with all major secured creditors. The City, via an ad hoc grant from EDC, has provided Artscape with $125,000 to support staff performing critical function in tenant services, property management and transition planning with City staff. This time is being used to explore all options and help maintain operations for artists, staff and tenants. The City continues to work closely with a group of philanthropists, business, and community leaders toward a sustainable solution for all fourteen Artscape sites. I will continue to share any updates I receive. You can find a short summary regarding this issue below in my News section.

It's an excellent opportunity to meet new friends, discover beautiful treasures, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The TTC, FreshCo, Toronto Police Services 12 Division's Neighbourhood Officers and its Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) have partnered again this year for the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday September 30th, 2023, Fresh Co at 1500 Jane Street (Jane and Trethewey) will be accepting food donations. Pre-made bags of food can also be purchased at this location. All donations will support the North York Harvest Food bank, Progress Place Mental Wellness, and Community Place Hub.

I wish everyone a warm and sunny weekend!
