E-News ~ November 9, 2023

Dear friends and neighbours,

As we approach Remembrance Day, it is time for us to reflect and honour the sacrifices of those who have served and continue to serve our nations. I want to pay tribute to the courage and resilience of our veterans and remind ourselves of the importance of never forgetting their contributions to our freedom of peace. As we reflect on the courage of those who have supported Canadian military efforts, we mourn the Canadians who sacrificed for the peace and freedoms we enjoy today, and we salute those who continue to selflessly serve our Country. I hope you will join me at the York Civic Centre's Remembrance Day Ceremony this Saturday, November 11th at 10:30 a.m. located at 2700 Eglinton Ave. W. Please see below, for further information.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead, short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrell with the foe
To you, from failing hand, we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

The Weston Village Residents Association will be hosting their Annual General Meeting which is open to anyone living in Weston. The meeting will take place on Monday, November 13 at St. John the Evangelist School from 7pm to 8:30pm. See below for more information.

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Frances
