Dear friends and neighbours,

Last week at City Council, an important motion was passed to improve our commitment to Vision Zero, the initiative aiming to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and severe injuries. This new policy promotes efficiency by eliminating petition requirements for speed humps on local roads, paving the way for a more responsive and proactive system.

In an attempt to enhance community engagement, the policy also removes the polling requirement, recognizing that collaboration with local Councillors provides a more direct and insightful gauge of community support. This new policy overhaul not only marks a significant step toward achieving Vision Zero but also underscores the city's dedication to creating streets that are safer, more accessible, and reflective of the needs of its residents. I am excited to continue working with all our communities in order to keep our streets safe and accessible for everyone.

Metrolinx will be conducting SUE (Subsurface Utility Engineering) investigations along St. Clair Avenue West in preparation of the future SmartTrack station. In order to complete these investigations safely, St. Clair Avenue West will experience traffic restrictions from November 20 to 23. Signage and notices are being sent to local residents who will be affected by these closures. You can find the full details below in the Community Projects & Construction section.

I am excited to share that we are one step closer to upgrading Cruickshank Park!

The City is conducting a survey to receive feedback from local residents on proposed designs for the playground. You can take the survey by clicking the link in my news section below on November 20th. I encourage all local residents to provide their feedback on which design they like most. The survey will be open from November 20th to December 3rd.

Weston Winterfest is returning to Weston Village this year! Join local businesses and the community for winter treats, live entertainment, fun activities and an indoor holiday market. These activities will be taking place across Weston Village from November 24 – 26. You can find full details about the Winterfest in my Community News section below. I hope to see you all there!

Wishing you and your loved ones a warm weekend.

Sincerely,
Frances
