E-News ~ November 23, 2023

Dear friends and neighbours,

The first on-street cycling facilities within the Weston neighbourhood are currently being planned for installation in the summer of 2024. These bikeways are proposed to be installed on Pine Street, Wright Avenue, and Sam Frustaglio Drive. I have requested a Public Consultation Meeting for local residents to provide valuable input on how this may affect our day to day lives. This meeting will take place next Tuesday November 28th, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Weston Collegiate Institute. You can take the survey on current options proposed by clicking the button in my news section below.

A second phase of consultation will take place in fall 2024 for east-west cycling connections to be installed in summer 2025. Sign up for project updates, including information about the upcoming public event and survey, at toronto.ca/westoncycling.

On Monday, November 27th, the City will be hosting a community consultation meeting regarding a significant development proposal at 2-16 and 5-15 Denarda Street. The applications submitted consist of a Zoning By-law Amendment to develop two 43 and 44-storey residential buildings. You can find out more regarding these proposals by reading the information below or by clicking the button to read the full notice. I hope to see you at this meeting to share your input with City Staff on what you would like to see happen with these projects.

For the 33rd year, Weston Park Baptist Church is organizing the annual Weston Christmas Community Food Drive. This food drive supports Weston families in partnership with Weston Area Emergency Support (WAES). Four thousand bags will be distributed into the Weston community one week prior the beginning of the drive. You can place your donation on your porch by 12 p.m. on December 3rd. Food may also be brought to the church at 1871 Weston Road.

For more details on boundaries or volunteer information, please see my Community News section below.

I want to thank Weston Area Emergency Support, the Weston Park Baptist Church, and the Weston Presbyterian Church for organizing these incredible initiatives. These types of initiatives are what make Weston a unique and welcome community. These donations are especially important this year, as many families are facing a cost of living crisis and welcome support from our community to help them put food on their table. Please consider donating or volunteering this holiday season to support our community.

I want to quickly remind you that Weston Winterfest is returning to Weston Village this year! Join local businesses and the community for winter treats, live entertainment, fun activities and an indoor holiday market. These activities will be taking place across Weston Village starting this Friday November 24 and will run until Sunday November 26. You can find full details about Winterfest in my Community News section below. I hope to see you all there!

Wishing you and your loved ones a fun-filled weekend.

Sincerely,
Frances
