Dear friends and neighbours,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2024.

In the spirit of gratitude, I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to the Rustic - Maple Leaf Homeowners group for their incredible generosity this holiday season. Their generous donation of $600 made it possible to prepare 225 meals for seniors at the Falstaff Soup Kitchen on December 15, 2023.

In addition to the meals, the Knitting club from St Francis Xavier School donated beautifully crafted scarves and hats, adding a warm touch to the gift bags. This effort was part of a broader post-Thanksgiving campaign where St Francis Xavier and St Fidelis students collected $1000, benefiting the Falstaff Soup Kitchen with food gift cards to support those in need, especially seniors. Special thanks to Chaminade College school students for their generous donation of food items to the Falstaff food bank. Thanks to the dedicated work of our community, many of our neighbours had a holiday meal this season.

The significant community bicycle project that made a great impact in our community is making a big return! Unused bicycles can now be donated at the Learning Enrichment Foundation at 116 Industry Street, where an amazing team will fix these bikes and distribute them across York South – Weston to community members in need.

You can imagine the smiles and laughter as your old bike is distributed, making a positive memory in someone else's life. Whether you have an unused bicycle gathering dust in your garage or are eager to contribute to this cause, your support is key to making this project a success.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming community events where these bicycles will be handed out. You can find out more regarding this program in my Community News section below.

I want to share information with you regarding ESS Support Services (formerly known as Etobicoke Support Services). ESS is a not-for-profit agency committed to supporting seniors in their desire to remain independent in their own homes and community. ESS currently operates out of two locations in the Weston area. They offer programs and services for seniors like Respite Care, PSW's, Recreation Programs, and even Caregiver Counselling! You can find all the details regarding ESS Support Services and their programs by clicking the flyer in the news section below.

Wishing you a warm and safe weekend.

Sincerely,
Frances
