Dear friends and neighbours,

I am excited to share that the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) has provided the City approval to advance the Humber River Trail project. The approval came with a requirement of two additional studies that include a safety plan that satisfies the requirements of emergency services, and a flood and ice jam mitigation plan. These studies must be provided to the Ministry prior to commencing construction. This is a giant step forward for the project and I can't wait to share more details with you in the new year.

I want to thank everyone who came out on Saturday to support the "Donate with Santa" initiative at Denny's Diner. Everyone including myself, Santa, TPS 12 Division Community Officers, and Denny's staff were delighted to see so many families come together to contribute to this important cause.

Thanks to your donations of toys and non-perishable food items, we are able to spread holiday cheer to families in need. The toys will be distributed by Toronto Police 12 Division to identified families in York South – Weston, while the donated food will support our local food bank, Weston Area Emergency Support (WAES).

I am immensely proud to represent a community that cares so deeply for its neighbours, and your involvement in this initiative exemplifies the spirit of unity and compassion that makes York South – Weston a truly special place.

On that note, I would like to also thank everyone who supported the WAES Food Drive on December 3rd. Over 380 boxes were collected from residents and over 100 Volunteers involved. If you would like to continue supporting WAES and there initiatives, you can click the link in the news section below to donate.

The Mount Dennis Legion, Branch 31 is hosting a New Year's Eve dinner and dance. The event features Catering by Chef Gerry McElvanna, Music by DJ Rob Martine, and a cocktail bar. The deadline to purchase tickets is December 23rd. You can find full details in the Community News section below.

Wishing you a warm and safe week ahead.

Sincerely,
Frances
