As you all know, I have been working on limiting the proliferation of payday lending in Ward 5 for many years. I am dedicated to strengthening existing policy and regulatory frameworks to keep predatory lenders out of our Ward. Update: Lane Reductions on Eglinton Avenue West
As early as Monday, January 31, 2022, crews at Caledonia Station will be preforming street and traffic light installations on Eglinton Avenue West by the Primary Entrance. To facilitate this work safely, eastbound and westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction by the Primary Entrance. This work will take approximately one (1) week to complete and will be carried out in two phases (refer to maps).
Ward 5 - Snow Update
I recognize that you may have recently received an e-news blast on the steps that City is taking to address the Monday's snowstorm. However, given the unprecedented situation, I believe this warrants an additional update.

Lane Reductions on Eglinton Avenue West
Beginning January 24, 2022, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction along Eglinton Avenue West to facilitate traffic and street lighting installation. This adjustment will last approximately 1 week.
Community Notice: Work on Scarlett Rd., & Eglinton Ave W.
Over the next few months, constructors with Metrolinx will relocate the access to the pedestrian bridge from the south-east to the south-west side. This work is necessary to prepare for the road realignment and extraction shaft work. It will begin in late January on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West, just west of the intersection at Scarlett Road.
Weston Road Lane Closure & Restricted Access
On January 13, 2021, a large crane will be delivered that requires a 3-lane road closure and Weston Road and restricted access from side roads.

I am pleased to report that the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is scheduled for completion in 2022. The project includes 25 new transit stops and could cut travel times by up to 60% when compared with buses on the corridor.
Lane Reductions on Eglinton Avenue West
As early as Monday, January 10, 2022, eastbound and westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction under the CP Bridge. This work will take approximately two months.

Yesterday, the provincial government announced that Ontario would temporarily return to a modified version of Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen, effective January 5, 2022. These measures will remain in place for at least 21 days (until January 26, 2022).

Our office has recently received a large number of questions about where to obtain COVID-19 booster shots and testing kits, with many expressing their frustration trying to obtain these items. In response, our office has expanded our COVID-19 information page to offer additional resources.

To slow the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant, the Government of Ontario has announced they will be pushing forward the timeline for COVID-19 booster shot eligibility. Beginning Monday, December 20, 2021, Ontarians aged 18+ will be eligible for their booster shot.
Lane Reductions at Keelesdale Station
As early as December 14, 2021, northbound traffic on Trethewey Avenue will be reduced to two lanes south of Yore Road. This lane reduction will remain in place overnight until work is completed. Work is expected to take place for 3 days between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Sidewalk Restoration Along Eglinton Ave W
As early as December 9, 2021, eastbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane between Weston Road and Keelesdale Road. This work is expected to take place between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for approximately 2 weeks.
Road Restoration on Hollis St, Weston Rd, Eglinton Ave W
As early as December 9, 2021, crews will be performing road work on Hollis Street, Weston Road, and Eglinton Avenue West. This work is expected to take place between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for approximately 3 weeks.

Electrical Upgrade: Project Runnymede-Fairbank
Toronto Hydro will be making electrical upgrades to enhance the reliability of these services. The boundaries for the project include Alliance Avenue (North), Rockcliffe Boulevard (East), Corbett Avenue (South), and Jane Street (West). Work is expected to begin in January 2022.
Lane Reductions & Closures at Mount Dennis Station
As early as Friday December 3, 2021, crews at Mount Dennis Station will begin working extended construction hours to facilitate track cuts and rail construction. Construction will take place 24-hour basis, Monday - Saturday, for approximately six months. Occasionally, crews will be required to work extended hours on Sundays to facilitate specialized activities.

The City of Toronto is reviewing the Property Standards Bylaw to ensure that all properties are safe, well-maintained, and that rules and standards for property owners and occupants are clear and consistent. Residents are invited to participate and provide input through an online survey, which will remain open until December 20, 2021.
