Dear friends and neighbours,

I'm happy to inform you that the Bikeshare Station at York Recreation Centre was successfully installed this week! Keep an eye out as more Bikeshare stations will be installed across York - South Weston.

This spring, City staff completed one of the earliest-ever openings of seasonal park washrooms and water fountains in Toronto. This fall marks the latest-ever closing of seasonal public washrooms and water fountains in Toronto. As colder temperatures are forecasted in the coming weeks, staff are preparing to close outdoor water assets. These facilities are uninsulated above and below ground and are vulnerable to damage from the cold and frost. Closure during the winter prevents potentially significant and costly damage to infrastructure i.e. pipes, fittings, taps, foundations etc.

City staff will begin to close water assets, prioritizing those in less-used park locations and where infrastructure is more likely to be damaged by low temperatures. You can find full details in my news section below.

Artificial Ice Rinks (AIR) are set to open on Saturday November 25th, 2023 - weather permitting. I will be sure to keep all of you informed if this date changes and which rinks will be opened.

Starting this week, Metrolinx crews at Keelesdale Station will be continuing to perform sidewalk deficiency repair works on Eglinton Avenue West, Keele Street, and Yore Road by the Keelesdale Station’s Main and Secondary Entrances. To facilitate this work safely, sidewalk closures will be in place on Eglinton Avenue West, Keele Street, and Yore Road. Temporary pedestrian rerouting will be in effect in the area as crews perform sidewalk deficiency repair works. Access to properties will be maintained at all times. For more details regarding this construction, you can see the full details below.
